Give girls a leading role

EF aligns with the three keys of the Girl Scout Leadership ExperienceDiscover, Connect and Take Action—by providing international travel just for Girl Scouts.

With Girl Scouts, it’s not just the activities, or “what” girls do, that impacts them. It’s also the processes, or “how” they do them. The three processes—Girl Led, Cooperative Learning and Learning by Doing— ensure the development of true leadership skills. When girls plan a tour and explore the world with us, they take part in each of the three processes:

Girl led

Girls play an active role in planning many of the elements of their tour. By researching destinations, organizing money-earning activities and hosting post-tour presentations, girls are engaged in the tour process. These leadership opportunities help them become active participants in their local and global communities. Learn more specific "girl led" activities.

Learning by doing

Our “learn it by living it” approach gives Girl Scouts a true hands-on educational experience. Whether it’s participating in an art workshop in Italy, trying a Taiji exercise in China, or volunteering at a school in Costa Rica, girls engage in meaningful activities, resulting in a deeper understanding of concepts and a mastery of practical skills. Girls can then connect their experiences to their lives and apply what they have learned to future experiences.

Cooperative learning

By traveling together as a group, girls share a bond like no other. Exploring distant destinations and encountering new cultures as a group requires cooperation and an atmosphere of respect and collaboration. Working together in an all-girl environment empowers girls, allowing them to experience a sense of belonging even in the most diverse groups.
