Girl Scout connection FAQ

Are these trips for troops or councils?

Troops, service units and councils have all planned trips with us. In fact, we have even had groups of alumnae travel on our tours. Who you invite to join your group is up to you, but whatever kind of group you put together, at least one adult must be designated as the Group Leader.

Can adults and Girl Scout alumnae travel on an EF Tour for Girl Scouts?

Yes, Girl Scout adults and alumnae are welcome to plan an adult or alumnae trip, travel on one of EF’s alumnae trips for Girl Scouts, or travel as part of a group with other troops.

What is WAGGGS?

WAGGGS is the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and is the official umbrella organization for all Girl Guide and Girl Scout Organizations in the world. It’s a worldwide movement that seeks to engage and empower millions of girls and young women, offering them opportunities to meet with their peers around the world.

What is Global Girl Scouting?

The goal of Global Girl Scouting is to encourage global awareness within the Girl Scout movement to share international opportunities available to girls and inspire them to take action. Global Girl Scouting is a division of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA).

What are the four World Centres?

The four World Centres—Sangam in India, Our Chalet in Switzerland, Pax Lodge in the United Kingdom, and Our Cabaña in Mexico—belong to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). They provide a place where Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from across the globe can meet girls from other countries and learn about the movement.

Can I participate in a program at a World Centre during my tour?

Yes, many of our trips include visits to the World Centres, and we're happy to arrange special Girl Scout activities and pinning ceremonies for you while you're there.

Do I need to arrange my own visit to the World Centres or Birthplace on my tour?

No, if a visit to a World Centre or The Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is included on your trip itinerary, we will make arrangements and confirm the visit for your troop.

Do we need to wear our Girl Scout uniforms while on our tour or while visiting a World Centre?

Although EF does not have any dress code requirements, many girls choose to wear their Girl Scout uniform or vest while visiting the World Centres.

Should we bring SWAPS?

Many Girl Scouts choose to bring SWAPS to trade with other girls who they meet while visiting the World Centres.

Should we bring gifts for the World Centres?

If you would like, the World Centres do welcome gifts. For more details, learn how to support The Pax Lodge and check out Our Chalet’s wish list.
